Summertime & Sunshine!

As summer quickly approaches, many of us will be spending more time outdoors with friends, families, and our pets - while enjoying the nicer weather is great there are also some added risk factors during the summer months for your pet, from fleas/ticks to dehydration. In general, make sure to be offering your pets lots of water, cool places in a shaded area to rest, avoiding concrete and other hot surfaces, and check out this post on our blog for other fun and safety summertime tips!

May is National “Chip Your Pet Month”!

While most of us like to assume that our pets will always be safe and at home, there are chances that your pet may end up lost, stolen, or on a “field trip” around your neighborhood at some time or another. CAC strongly encourages microchipping all pets in the case that you and your pet do ever get separated - it can also be helpful in cases of travel!

While microchips don’t offer GPS tracking, they can be useful in linking your information to your pets to help them be returned home even if their collars are taken off or lost. Check out this microchip success story for more info on how microchips work and why they are helpful to have!

Pet Insurance? Get it? Got it - good!

One of the best things a pet owner can do for their pet and themselves is get pet insurance! When getting a new pet, or even looking into insurance for an existing pet, the process can seem overwhelming and hard to decide which company or plan may work best for you; check out this post on our blog for info on why we recommend insurance, about filing claims, and a guide to the most common deciding factors of most major pet insurance companies!

For those who already have pet insurance, CAC strongly encourages you to bring any forms that will need to be completed by Vet staff to your pet’s appointment - as requests for forms to be filled out after the appointment may take up to a 2 week turnaround time for processing. Most often, insurance companies do not need the Vet to sign or complete the claims - as they are looking for invoices, medical records, or a summary of the visit; which are all things that can be provided to owners at the time of discharge.
